Happy Birthday Lizzie!!

Hi All,

It was Australia Day here in Oz yesterday and what better way to spend the day than to sit with friends listening to the Triple J Hottest 100 (I'd say who came in #1 but this is a scheduled post to ensure my sister doesn't see her card before I have had a chance to give it to her).  Even better at this time of year is that it is my big Sister's birthday.

For my Lizzie's card I have used the Flourishes Sweet Pea collection inked in with Distress Inks. Flourishes stamps are made with clear acrylic they are very detailed, beautiful stamps.

The Sweet Peas were coloured using Spun Sugar and Picked Raspberry.

The paper used came from the Wild Rose Studio's Annabelle's Meadow collection, and the card was finished with Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers.

Happy birthday Lizzie, I couldn't ask for a better big Sister in the whole world.  Love you to the moon and back again.

Thanks for looking

Happy Birthday Miss Nicky

Good afternoon all,

Well I am in my fifth week home from work, stuck lying down after some health issues.  I'm having a miserable day today, and an I'm over it day - however the parcel post with new goodies that has just been delivered has managed to put a smile on my face for awhile.  I get to get my hands on my first two Saturated Canary stamps, and to say I am excited is an understatement!!!  Now I just have to wait for the rest of the stamps I have ordered to arrive ;o)

Anyway back to the task at hand.  Tomorrow is my friend Nicky's birthday, and as Nicky is a fellow scrapper I had to make sure it was a good card :o)  So knowing I was not going to be able to do much especially these last two weeks I have had this little one made up ready and waiting since just after Christmas.  I am really excited to be able to share her with you all.

From the Raising the Ceiling Collection I have used little Ladybug Tilda.  This was the second Magnolia stamp I ever owned, and I still love her just as dearly :o)  I love ladybugs as they are so bright and vibrant, and cute!!

Coloured with my Distress Reinkers in one of my favourite colours Barn Door with Black Soot for shading.  Her little dots are made using Onyx Pearl liquid pearls.

The little wooden ladybugs were a chance find at one of my local bargain stores, and work so well.  The background paper I made myself with Barn Door distress stain, my ladybug stamp from Kaszazz embossed in black and some Perfect Pearls Forever Red mist.  The Happy Birthday postmark sentiment is also courtesy of Kaszazz, and one of my favourites!

Last photo today is a close up shot of the gorgeous Wild Orchid Craft flowers I used to finish this card off beautifully, even if they did make it very difficult to fit it in an envelope ;o)

Wishing you a very Happy Birthday Nicky and a year full of love, laughter, happiness and good health!!

Thanks for looking

Inspiration

Hi All,

I can finally blog my first Magnolia card for 2013.  I have made a few Birthday cards over the last couple of weeks whilst on leave, but I have had to be patient whilst I wait for their intended recipients to receive them :o)

I have played around previously with the black and white painting technique, and then late last year I inked in Princess Party Tilda from the Princes and Princes Collection using a wash of Antique Linen over the whole Tilda before inking in with the Black Soot to try and match the background papers better.  I also used a wash of Scattered Straw on the crown.  I loved the finished product, it really gave it that antique photo effect.

The following is a photo (my apologies for the poor quality) of the first Tilda I made using this idea, unfortunately it was my first shaker card, and there was a little too much glitter for me to be able to get a photo of the full Tilda - who would have thought to take a photo of her before ;o)

So this started me thinking, and I remembered my Grandmother's wedding photos. When she was married in 1943 their photos were done in black and white, however there were a couple where they had some colour added, a wash of colour to tint certain areas of the picture, and I was keen to try and recreate the effect.

Pink Ribbon Tilda from the new Magnolia With Love Collection was to be my little tester Tilda to see how this would work, and never to be seen again if all went wrong ;o) Luckily I was happy with it how it went :o)

As you can see from the first picture, with the colouring started it is quite a cool effect.  The face and hair had been given a wash of Antique Linen like you can see on the hands and feet.  Her suit is washed with Shaded Lilac and the bow with Peacock Feathers.  Some Worn Lipstick has given her the blush on her cheeks.

The finished piece -

Once I had finished shading with the black, I went back and did another tint of the colours as they original was fades when blending the Black Soot with the water.

Now to the photos of the finished card.

Thanks for looking, and Happy Birthday Sharon xx

Christmas 2012

Hiya,

Well it has certainly been awhile, what a crazy year 2012 was!!  Happy new year to all, here's hoping 2013 is better!!

Although not starting off so well for me, since my health problems in September 2012 have not gone away, and I am looking at probably having more surgery in the near future, here's hoping it is all out of the way early in the year and we can get on with it!!

So the end of last year crafting wise was not flash for me either, between my health and work I barely got any Christmas cards made, in fact 3 only!!

Let's start with the Wild Rose Studio's Starry Night stamp from the Xmas Bella Collection.  Being that this was for one of my male friends, I have tried to limit the bling on this and keep it a little more...blokey...??

The snowflake background was done with my Kaszazz Snowflake un-cut set and the fur on the hats was made using liquid appliqué, love using that stuff - so much fun!!!

Next card was for my sister and her family.  With three boys 8, 4 and only 9 months I certainly didn't want anything girly for my little men either.  I came across the docrafts, Christmas Boofle Stamp - Reindeer...perfect!!  The natural colours of this card seemed to blend perfectly with the colour of my reindeer making 'Rudolph's' nose pop off the card :)

Such a cutie!!

Finally a card I made for my dearest Ma.  As soon as I saw this stamp at the scrap store I had to have it.  She is quite a large stamp, but utterly gorgeous!!  I really did have a lot of fun inking her in :o)  From Penny Black Inc. it's Fairy Holly.  Not much other embellishment required for this little beauty...

The Snowflakes and Monogram M stamp are both courtesy of Kaszazz, and some liquid pearls to complete the job :)

I hope you and your families enjoyed a safe and happy festive season, and I wish you all good health, happiness, love and laughter for the year to come.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment :)

Thanks for looking xx
